WOW Good Food from left overs!

I'm still using my left over ham. First I did the crescent rolls filled with ham and cheese. Well being a gastric bypass patient I thought I should see what the nutritional value is. I use another website that has a free nutritional calculator. Here is how it brokedown: 405 cals, 18.4 protein, 23.5 fat, 29.7 carbs. So now I am thinking about how to get the same great flavor and lession the fat and calories. I'll do some investigating and get back to you.

A random thought popped up today....thinking about taxes. You know how there was the reduction in paperwork act but yet we still have zillions of forms to complete? Well, why don't they just have employers hold out 10% for each employee and that's it - no other taxes. They could then 'lay off' several IRS workers because then there really would be a reduction in paperwork.

I told you I was using more ham and the ham bone to make a pot of pinto beans which I did. I also had some left over chopped vegetables that I use for a finger food called veggie squares. These vegetables are zucchini, radish, celery, carrot, and they are chopped very fine. Well I through in about 1 cup of these chopped vegetables, along with an onion, and seasonings. WOW, was this a delicious lunch today. I also calculated the nutritional value (using that other website) and they are: 261 cal, 1.7 fat, 46 carbs, 17.1 protien.

So today I chopped up the rest of the ham and put it in the freezer. So for that $15 I paid I have made 3 meals at home and sent enough for 4 meals with my parents and uncle on Christmas day. That is 7 meals for $15, of course there is the cost of the crescents, cheese, and beans. But I had the onions and seasonings on hand.

With everything going up in cost in nice to know that I can get several meals from a small amount of dollars if I cook at home.

I am obsessed with cooking and trying new and different recipes. I get ideas from everywhere sometimes even from my random thoughts.

Now that the ham is in the freezer it is almost time to finally talk turkey!

See ya soon!
